Driving Evaluation and Vehicle Adaptation
Why request this service?
- For persons who have difficulty getting in or out of their vehicles safely
- Following a change in physical condition (amputation, paralysis of one or more limbs, etc.)
- When the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) requests an assessment from an occupational therapist
Cost
- There are no occupational therapy fees for those eligible to receive services from the Centre de réadaptation de l'Estrie du CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS
- Government financial assistance is available for equipment to adapt a vehicle if the health condition is both permanent and medically recognized; if the user is not living in a public institution
- Financial assistance is also available to purchase a vehicle if it is to be adapted for a child

Vehicle adaptation
The vehicle's condition must meet certain criteria to be adapted. Otherwise, it will be necessary to purchase a new vehicle.- For drivers and passengers of all ages
- To transport your mobility aid (wheelchair or other)
